Archived Timely Warnings - 2017

On Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at approximately 10:30 PM, an assault with a deadly weapon incident was reported to the University Police Department.

In the incident, the victim reported that between 9:20 PM and 9:45 PM Wednesday night he was walking eastbound on the north sidewalk of Font Boulevard. When the victim reached the intersection of Font Boulevard and Tapia Drive, he was confronted by a male subject. The victim then heard someone running towards his direction from behind and felt a hard object strike the right side of his face. The victim turned his head and was struck again by another suspect on the left side of his face.

The suspects pushed the victim to the ground and ran away westbound on Font Boulevard toward Lake Merced Boulevard. The victim reported that there were three suspects involved in the incident. They made no attempts to take his belongings nor did they speak during the encounter.

The victim described the suspects as follows:

  1. Suspect 1 – Hispanic-looking male adult: 19-20 years-old, 5’6” tall, 140 pounds, clean shaven, brown hair worn down to his ears that was curly at the ends and split down the middle, wearing “urban-street style” clothing.
  2. Suspect 2 - Black male adult: 19-20 years-old, 5’ 9” to 6’ tall, dark complexion, thin-average build, wearing a gray sweatshirt and sweat pants, with the sweatshirt pulled tight around his face.
  3. Suspect 3 - White male adult: 19-20 years-old, 5’ 9” – 6’ tall, thick build, brown wavy hair approximately 2" in length.

The University Police Department conducted a thorough search of the buildings and nearby campus area and were unable to locate the suspects.

In response to this incident, UPD is increasing patrols in this area of campus. Members of the SF State community are encouraged to remain alert and observant; please report any suspicious or concerning activity to UPD immediately. If you feel unsafe, contact the University Police Department.

On Saturday, August 19, 2017, at 9:51 PM, an SF State student reported an attempted burglary of their on-campus residence.

In the incident, the victim reported that two unknown suspects kicked in the front door to his apartment located at Centennial Village, Building A. The suspects entered the apartment and contacted the victim. One of the suspects, who was carrying a clipboard, told the victim that the victim’s valuables were not safe and to “gather them up.” The suspect told the victim to follow them out of the apartment. The victim refused to comply with the suspects and they left the apartment in an unknown direction.

The victim described the first suspect as a Black male adult 20-22 years-old, wearing a purple bandana, grey hoodie, with a small goatee. The victim described the second suspect as a Black male adult, approximately 20-22 years-old, 6 feet 3 inches tall, wearing a red hoodie.

The University Police Department conducted a thorough search of the buildings and nearby campus area and was unable to locate the suspects.

On Saturday, April 1, 2017, at 3:19 PM, a female subject (non-SF State affiliated) reported that while she was studying on the fourth floor of the Library, she became aware of an unknown male subject. The female subject stated the suspect had his shorts down and was holding his erect penis in one hand and his scrotum in the other, staring at her contentedly. The suspect did not talk to the female subject and ran away after she gave him a disgusted look. The suspect was last seen running through the book shelves on the fourth floor of the Library. He was described by the female subject as a white male, 5’8” tall, 21-23 years old, with a thin build, light facial hair, wearing a black baseball cap backwards, white shirt, and black shorts. The University Police Department conducted a thorough search of the buildings and nearby campus area with negative results in locating the suspect.

On Friday, February 11, 2017, at 10:53 pm, an SF State student reported that while entering the south stairwell at 750 Font Boulevard, Centennial Village Building C, he was robbed by two unknown suspects, using a handgun. The suspects were described by the victim as being a White male and a Hispanic-looking male. Both assailants were reported to be between 25-30 years old, 5’8”-5’10” tall, wearing blue jeans and long-sleeve shirts. The victim observed that both suspects had medium-length curly hair, with the Hispanic-looking male having slightly longer hair. The White male wore a yellow-colored hat. A gun was seen in the other suspect’s waistband and described as being a black semi-automatic weapon. There was no further description on the suspects. The victim did not sustain any injuries and the loss was a backpack containing textbooks and an Apple iPhone 7. Prior to the officer’s arrival, both suspects had fled the scene in an unknown direction. The University Police Department conducted a thorough search of the buildings and nearby campus area with negative results.

On Friday, January 27, 2017, at 7:29 PM, an SF State student reported that while he was studying on the second floor of the Humanities Building, he became aware of an unknown male. The student stated the suspect was not wearing any pants and began masturbating while standing in the doorway to the room where the student was studying. The suspect did not talk to the student and ran away after the student told him he was going to contact the police department.

The suspect was last seen in the area of the Humanities Building and Creative Arts Building. He was described by the student as an approximately 6 feet tall, 24-28 years old, Black male, wearing dark clothing; the student stated the suspect also appeared to have short dreads. The University Police Department conducted a thorough search of the buildings and nearby campus area with negative results in locating the suspect.
