Archived Timely Warnings - 2020

On Tuesday, June 30th, 2020, the victim reported that they had been robbed approximately 20 minutes ago. The victim stated that they were sitting in their parked car on Holloway Avenue in the area of 1600 Holloway Avenue. While the victim was sitting in their car, they were approached by two male suspects who each opened one of the victim's car doors and stole their belongings. The suspects then ran to a vehicle that was parked in the area, which is only described as a white sedan. Both suspects got into the white sedan and fled the area. The victim gave chase in their car but lost sight of the white sedan on southbound Lake Merced Boulevard in the area of Font Boulevard.

The suspects were both described as being males, approximately 5' 10" to 6' tall, skinny build, and approximately 19-20 years old. The only clothing description was that one of the suspects was wearing a white jacket that had a hood. The only description of the car was a white sedan.

On Thursday, 02-06-2020, the victim reported that on Monday, 02-03-2020, at approximately 10:23 a.m., he was stabbed while on the city sidewalk in front of the Science Building. According to the victim, the two suspects were “awkwardly looking” at him and an argument ensued. The first suspect stabbed victim and the second suspect punched the victim. Both suspects fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

The first suspect was approximately 5’5” tall, weighed 160 – 170 pounds, wore a red hoodie. The victim was unable to describe the second suspect.

UPDATE (02-12-2020)

On 2/7/2020 a Clery Timely Warning notice was sent to the campus community regarding an alleged assault with deadly weapon incident that involved a stabbing. It was reported that the crime took place on 19th Ave., next to the Science building. University Police Department detectives determined through their investigation that the crime never occurred and that the incident was fabricated.

On January 27, 2020, at approximately 7:50 PM University Police received a report of a person armed with a firearm in the Centennial Village, Building A, 5th floor.

The victim reported that at approximately 7:45 PM on Monday, January 27, 2020, a known suspect was let into her apartment by an acquaintance in order to retrieve some of his property. The victim was not at home when the suspect initially arrived, however the victim arrived home shortly thereafter and confronted the suspect. While speaking to the suspect, she observed, what appeared to be, a semi-automatic handgun tucked into the suspect’s waistband. The victim advised that during the confrontation, the suspect made threatening remarks which made her fear for her safety. According to the victim, the suspect then left the building on foot and fled in an unknown direction. The suspect may have fled in a car, but the vehicle description is not known.

The victim described the suspect as a Black male, 19 years old, short black hair and a beard, approximately 5’8”-5’9” in height with a skinny build. The suspect was last seen wearing a blue jacket and black pants.

The remainder of this email provides general information about preventing and reporting burglary and is not necessarily related to this incident:

  • Ensure all doors and accessible windows (especially those on the ground floor) are fully closed and locked.
  • Be aware of your surroundings. If you see someone acting suspiciously, call the SF State University Police Department immediately at 415-338-2222 or 9-1-1 (emergencies).
  • Avoid displaying and/or placing high-value items close to windows. Items such as computers, cellular phones, wallets, and purses can be easily grabbed from open windows and also may be incentives for criminals to try and enter the residence.
  • Be alert and aware. Pay attention to who is around when you leave and return to your residence. If returning at night, leave a light on as a visual deterrent.
  • If you discover someone in your residence: if possible, leave immediately and go to a safe area (i.e., a neighbor or someplace public). Contact the police as soon as possible. If you are unable to leave your residence, secure yourself in a safe location, turn on all available lights, and contact the police immediately.

On Thursday, January 16th, 2020, at approximately 7:30 PM, three female victims reported to the University Police Department that they had been robbed at gunpoint in the rear parking area of 225 Buckingham Way. The victims stated that this crime occurred at approximately 30 minutes prior to them reporting it.

The victims stated that they were driving to their parking spot when a dark colored, possibly black, 4-door sedan pulled in front of them and stopped. Four suspects, armed with handguns, exited the vehicle and approached the victims. The rear passenger was ordered out of the vehicle and questioned on her earlier activities. Items were also removed from the passenger compartment of the vehicle.

The suspects were described as having slim builds, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, wearing all black clothing with either hoodies or beanies on, and their faces covered with bandanas or some other type of cloth.

The vehicle was described as a dark, possibly black, colored 4 door sedan last seen leaving the scene in an eastbound direction through the parking lot.
