The San Francisco State University Police Department offers both Ink or "Hardcard" fingerprinting and Livescan fingerprinting. We provide fingerprinting services to students, faculty, staff, and to the general public. For questions regarding livescan or fingerprinting, email livescan@sfsu.edu or call (415) 405-3808
Before You Come In.

If you are getting a Livescan, the requesting employer or agency must provide the Livescan form.

If you are getting regular ink fingerprints we provide the card.
What to Bring to Your Appointment

Valid government issued ID such as: driver’s license, state/government ID card, or passport.

Campus ID card if you are a current student, faculty, or staff in order to receive a campus discount.

Livescan form provided by your requesting agency (if getting Livescan).

We accept the following as forms of payments: credit/debit cards.
Costs for Livescan
The University Police Department charges the following fees for Livescan processing.

General Public $30.00

SF State Faculty / Staff $20.00

SF State Students $10.00
In addition, the different agencies who provide the background checks charge their own processing fees. Depending on the type of background check you require, you will be charged one or more of the following fees. These fees are subject to change without notice.
