Archived Timely Warnings - 2019

On November 25, 2019, at approximately 3:12 PM, SF State Police received a report of an unknown male threatening to “shoot up and blow up” occupants of the Library.

The witness reported to a uniformed Community Service Specialist that he had witnessed an unknown male walk in through the Holloway Avenue entrance of the Library carrying a large duffle bag, backpack, and cylindrical bag and yelling that he was going “to shoot up and blow up” the Library.

The first responding SF State Police officers arrived on scene at approximately 3:18 PM and located the subject and his bags on the first floor. The subject was detained and the area was cordoned off and secured. Once the subject was removed from the scene, an evacuation order for the Library was given. Additional SF State Police officers, Community Service Specialists, and SFSU Library Building Coordinators began to assist in the evacuation.

The San Francisco Police Department, Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit, was contacted for assistance in determining the validity of the threat. At approximately 4:35 PM, the packages were deemed non-explosive and safe. A thorough search of the area was then conducted for additional devices, which yielded negative results.

The subject was identified as a 55-year old male, non-SFSU related, who was booked on two felony counts of criminal threats at the San Francisco County Main Jail.

On 11/09/2019 at approximately 10:40 AM, a robbery occurred at the bus stop located at 19th Avenue and Holloway Avenue in front of the HSS Building.

The victim reported that at approximately 10:15 AM while he was waiting for the bus, an unknown suspect approached him and forcibly took his cell phone from his hands as he was texting. The suspect then ran southbound on 19th Avenue then turned and ran westbound between the HSS Building and the Science Building onto the SFSU campus.

The victim and witness described the suspect as male adult wearing a grey jacket and grey pants. No weapons were seen or mentioned during the robbery. The San Francisco State Police Department is currently investigating the incident at this time.

On 11/08/19 at approximately 5:30 PM, an armed robbery involving a firearm occurred at the bus stop located at the north corner of Winston Drive and Lake Merced Blvd.

The victim reported that at approximately 5:30 PM while he was waiting for the bus, an unknown suspect approached him and robbed him of his backpack containing his personal electronic items. A second suspect was waiting in a blue four door vehicle which was parked on Winston Drive. A concerned citizen, who heard a commotion, exited his motor home and attempted to intervene.

During the intervention, the suspect on foot brandished a firearm and fired a single shot at the concerned citizen which narrowly missed striking him. The suspect then fled northbound on foot through the Lowell High School parking lot. The suspect in the vehicle fled eastbound on Winston Drive. Both the victim and witness were not seriously injured.

The victim and witness described the suspects as male juveniles wearing dark colored clothing. The vehicle was described as a four-door dark colored sedan. The San Francisco Police Department is currently investigating the incident at this time.

On Sunday, September 15, 2019 at 1:33 pm, University Police received a report of a cold residential burglary at 290 Buckingham Way, which occurred earlier in the day. The victim reported that an unknown suspect(s) entered into the residence and stole miscellaneous electronic items and clothing. Following the initial report, Officers and Investigators conducted further follow up investigations into the matter and determined that one of the residents was possibly in the apartment during the incident. There is no suspect information at this time and the investigation is still continuing.

On September 5, 2019, at approximately 3:15 AM University Police received a report of a residential burglary in the University Park North residential area. The victim reported that at 3:00 AM on Thursday, September 5, 2019, an unknown suspect gained entry into his apartment through the unlocked front door. The victim was at home at the time of the incident and confronted the suspect in the living room area. While confronting the suspect, the suspect dropped items on the floor before fleeing out of the apartment in an unknown direction. After the suspect fled, the victim noticed that his camera and camera lens had been stolen. The victim described the suspect as a white male, 30 years old, approximately 6 feet tall, skinny build, and appeared to be possibly a transient. The suspect was wearing 2 sweaters, one dark green in color and the other black in color and black sweatpants. The suspect was carrying a green backpack and a black backpack.

Update

On Thursday September 5, 2019 at approximately 1:40 PM, the suspect in the residential burglary from the University Park North area was located and apprehended. An SFSU Facilities staff member recognized the suspect from the description provided earlier in the Clery Timely Warning notice and contacted the University Police Department.

On Tuesday 08/27/19 at approximately 12:44 PM, SFPD Communications received a report from a third party regarding a man with a firearm in the area of Juan Bautista Circle and Font Boulevard.  The reporting party described the subject only as an elderly male with a black handgun.  SFPD and SF State Police responded to the area and conducted a search for the subject.   Officers were unable to locate the subject and witnesses to the matter.  SF State Police has continued increased patrols in the area and encourages anyone with information to please call 911.

On May 21, 2019, at approximately 12:17 PM, a residential burglary incident that occurred in the University Park North residential area was reported to the University Police Department.

In the incident, the victims reported that between 1:00 AM and 7:30 AM on Tuesday, May 21st, an unknown suspect gained entry into their apartment through the unlocked front door. The suspect stole two laptop computers and a wallet. The victims were home at the time and were not aware of the incident until they discovered their property had been stolen. There is no information on the suspect.
